My parkscape painting shows depiction of vulnerable but undoubted existence of comically spooky and slightly sinister atmosphere of parks in developed cities. I attempt to introduce an urban life fantasy that is a discrepancy of carefully planed and constructed artificial nature of park reminds us.

In an open wide green space, people in a city try to get relaxed as much as possible. Lie down on grass and read a book. Walk with dog. Play football. Breathe in the air. However they do it, it is a calming experience. But there is another side to the park. The side evokes sinister imagination such as there may not be only us in the park. @Someone or something is watching. Of course, there is a realistic doubt that we are just imagining those. Those imaginations are triggered by the shapes of shadow, tree brunches without leaves or strange atmosphere that light and air creates.

A scene which after a fantastical event has taken place or is waiting for it to happen is often viewers' response to this series. Together with the uncanny feeling towards park's unnatural ideology of artificial nature, absence of human presence in painting drives such thoughts. I try to emphasize the point through a combination of photo-realistic representation with some tiny pictorial modifications.
